Palin/Couric Interview

In her second “CBS Evening News” interview with Katie Couric, Sarah Palin was asked why she didn’t get a passport until 2006. Did it, as some of her viewers wonder, show a lack of curiousity and interest about the world and other cultures?
I prefer a Veep who is well traveled with a curiosity and respect for other cultures. Love it or hate it, we live in what are now globalized multiple cultures and economies that all affect one another.
I think it was a lack of curiosity and a narrow world view that got us mire in a Iraq so long. The troops did a great job going in and taking out the power structure, but our leaders who proposed the mission were flawed. Lets not even talk about the WMD’s, weapons of mass destruction. The real disaster was after we went in, took out the power structure and left the country in complete disarray (something it still has not recovered from).
The Bush administrators thought the people would suddenly be liberated and completely democratic. Because they didn’t understand the culture, the people or the history, they didn’t foresee Shia and Sunni’s battling for power.
